Are you a Quality Inspector with IS0 9001 or AS9100 experience? If so, we have an exciting opportunity that involves “hands-on” support for our Cryogenics, Quantum Computing and Test and Measurement markets.
The Phoenix Company of Chicago, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Quality Inspector to support our quality management system in carrying out tasks related to quality assurance, inspections, documentation, and performance improvements for our growing manufacturing business. This dynamic role will drive sustainable corrective actions that address true root causes and provide continual improvements. This individual will perform inspection and testing duties to access conformance of products to ensure product fulfills customer specifications and quality requirements.
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate will be a Trade School graduate or equivalent experience and skills with emphasis on manufacturing or similar major. This role requires a minimum of two years of experience working in a manufacturing environment with experience in measurement and inspection techniques. In-depth knowledge of relevant manufacturing standards (such as J-STD-001 and IPC-A-620) or common mechanical techniques.(such as geometric dimensioning and tolerance practice) is preferred. In addition, experience musty include the ability to use various measurement devices (calipers, pin gauges, etc.) to verify mechanical part compliance and experience reading blueprint drawings to very part dimensions against drawing requirements. Visual acuity and adequate manual dexterity are essential for identifying visual defects on small piece parts and good communication skills to effectively communicate any nonconformance.
Key Responsibilities:
The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing first piece inspections and appraising material at all production stages of manufacturing and assembly. The inspector will verify all assembly work and documentation is complete and product is ready to move to the next operation or to ship.
- Performs visual and mechanical inspection activities to assess conformance of products to the design, as defined by the drawings, work instructions and process sheets.
- Inspects products, components, and subassemblies involving the use of all types of visual, mechanical, or electrical inspection devices and equipment. Pays close attention to detail to ensure conformance of products.
- Receives daily assignments, orders, prints and verbal instructions from Quality Assurance Lead Inspector.
- Thoroughly inspects questionable parts and clarifies the requirements and specifications with QA Lead as necessary. Reports any non-compliance before product reaches QA Final Inspection.
- Ensure all inspection, measuring and test equipment being used is within proper calibration.
- Collaborate well with various supervisors and line leaders responsible for each department and keep each advised of non-conformances founds.
- Document inspections as required by company processes.
