The Pines at Davidson is hiring a Director of Wellness and Resident Services. The Director of Wellness and Resident Services strategizes, implements and oversees a comprehensive program of services that enhances the day-to-day experience of residents, supporting the physical, social, educational and spiritual dimensions of well-being. The Director further contributes to the mission of the organization by ensuring clear, timely communication to residents, as well as interviewing and onboarding residents to The Pines community. The Director is responsible for talent development and talent management of the Independent Living Resident Services team supporting activities, fitness, transportation, and chaplaincy.

Who you are
Education:
- A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
Experience:

A minimum of 5 years' experience working with older adults in a health care and/or retirement setting.

A minimum of 3 years of project management and people management.

A minimum of 3 years of project management and people management.
Skills:

An advanced working knowledge of gerontology and the functions of social services in a long-term care setting.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to utilize spoken and written communication in a variety of media formats.

Strong judgment/ability to make sound decisions in short timeframes.

Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with residents, family members, and staff from other departments.
What you will do

Provide oversight of Independent Living Resident Services department, directing team members and vendors in provision of social work, transportation, chaplaincy, fitness, activity, concierge and contracted services.

Establish goals, roles, and processes for each function within the team; Recruit, onboard, performance manage and develop team members.

Set strategic direction of department with focus on physical, social, educational and spiritual dimensions of well-being.

Establish systems to monitor resident engagement, assess program effectiveness and make improvements in programming as needed.

Function as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, representing the needs of Independent Living residents and coordinating the flow of residents through the continuum of care.

Ensure Independent Living Resident Services works collaboratively with other departments.

Establish and administer systems of communication for resident life (activities, events, menus, deadlines, updates), accounting for residents’ preferred vehicles of communication.

Participate in resident selection and onboarding for residents’ initial six months of occupancy at The Pines, helping residents to establish social connections and resources.

Ensure appropriate support of residents to move through the continuum of care and otherwise ensure assessment and referral to needed resources. Serve as an advocate for all Independent Living Residents. Support families and facilitate administrative functions at the time of resident deaths.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Include Vision, Language, Hearing, Range of Motion, Lifting Capacity, Sitting/Standing, etc.)
- Extended periods of sitting, walking and standing.
- Some driving required.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Repetitive use of hands includes: simple grasping of less than 20 lbs. frequently; fine manipulation using key board and writing frequently.
- Sensory requirements: Write, keyboarding, speak on phone and in person, speak to large groups, read computer monitor, hear spoken questions and comments in person, on phone and in large groups.
- Work performed in an indoor setting with occasional walking outdoors to various campus locations.
