Teacher on Special Assignment (HS Admin Support)

 

Description:

The Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) supports with student discipline and safety needs; helps with day to day administration tasks; communicates with families; and supports staff.

 

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to: High School Principal

Direct Reports: This is a non-supervisory position.

Compensation:

A stipend is paid for the duration of the completion of these duties.  The anticipated timeline of work is currently February 2025 - May 2025 and is subject to change based on the hiring date of the Assistant Principal.  The stipend amount is $100 per employee contact day (in addition to the employee’s base hourly or salary pay).  The stipend is anticipated to be approximately $6,000-$7,500; however the calculation of the stipend will be based on the actual number of contact days worked in the TOSA role.

 

Essential Functions:

Discipline Support:

  •       Address disciplinary issues with high school students in accordance with school discipline policies and procedures with the goal of correcting the behavior and returning the student to learning.
  •       Manage behavior referrals as assigned; provide discipline support to teachers and other staff members.
  •       Communicate discipline issues with parents, staff, and administration.
  •       Document all disciplinary notes and actions in Infinite Campus; maintain disciplinary files and databases.
  •       Schedule and support re-entry meetings.
  •       Supervises the in-school suspension and restorative justice program. Assigns students to restorative practices, In School Suspension and provides direction and guidance.

Safety Support:

  •       Monitor, maintain, create and consistently review all safety plans, threat assessments and suicide risk assessments.
  •       Monitor Safe2Tell reports
  •       Attend meetings with administrators, department leads, counselors and directors as assigned.
  •       Assists administrative team and safety team in conducting drills and safety reunifications and supports
  •       Routinely inspects school facilities, including hallways, restrooms, classrooms and special areas. Monitors hallways during every passing period.
  •       Assists administrative team, Safety Team and/or School Resource Officer with overall supervision and safety of students in the buildings and on the grounds before and after school and during lunch. 
  •       Assists teachers and staff in maintaining a safe classroom learning environment by providing intervention tactics and supportive tools to classroom teachers and utilizing counseling, restorative relationship repair strategies and monitoring of student needed tools to maintain a productive respectful student in the classroom in the future.
  •       Coordinates and assists the High School Administrative team with security and supervision needs for Pinnacle sponsored events such as dances, rallies, award ceremonies, continuation ceremony, celebrations, etc.

 

Administrator Support:

  •       Assist with substitute classroom management and coverage as needed.
  •       Monitor and assess attendance records and maintain accuracy for testing, field trips, excused absences and suspensions.
  •       Monitor student progress, MTSS student tracking, IEP and 504 plans alongside the administrative team.
  •       Organizes and coordinates supervision of game administrative duties as needed.

 

Additionally:

  •       Be present and engage in Pinnacle functions and organizations to build strong relationships with students, parents, peers, and the community.
  •       Maintain and deepen current educational learning on an ongoing basis.
  •       Regular and timely attendance.
  •       Perform other duties as assigned.

  •       Must possess a valid Colorado Teacher License coupled with a passion to engage and motivate students.

Working Conditions:

Exposure/Noise Level: Normal school environment with moderate to high noise level.

Mental Functions: Analyze, collaboration, communicate, compare, compilation of data, compute, coordinate, copy, direct, evaluate, instruct, interpersonal skills, present, report, synthesize.

Physical Activities: Bend, reach, sit, stand, stoop, talk, walk, and heavy person-to-person interaction with students, parents, peers, and community members.

Weight and Force Demands: Moderate physical activity (lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 25 pounds).

Other: May be required to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work related functions.
