Housekeeping Job Description
Department: Housekeeping
Reports to: Housekeeping Supervisor
Job Summary:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Performing the daily housekeeping duties necessary to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the physical plant and residential areas.
Qualifications: Must have the ability to read, write and follow both oral and written instructions.
Requirements:
- Must be a responsible, dependable person.
- Must be courteous, neat in appearance, and in good health.
- Must be able to work weekends and overtime as required.
Job Duties:
- Dust and polish furniture in front lobby daily.
- Vacuum carpet in all offices and front lobby daily.
- Dust and polish furniture in all residents’ room daily.
- Dust mop all residents’ room daily and as needed.
- Clean all bathrooms and toilet bowls daily.
- Empty all wastebaskets daily.
- Clean all mirrors, windows, and window sills daily.
- Keep draperies properly hooked in traverse carriers (cubicle curtains) at all times.
- Clean and polish all water fountains daily.
- Clean and polish fire extinguishers daily.
- Spot mop daily and as needed.
- Keep housekeeping equipment clean and in working order.
- Clean all beds, bedrails, chair legs, bedside tables, and over the bed tables daily.
- Re-stock maid cart before going off duty.
- Participate in fire drills, disaster drills, and in-service as appropriate.
- Attend all staff meetings and perform other duties as required.
