What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Child Care Preschool position at The Play Lab?
The Play Lab is a new and quickly growing early childhood program in Millcreek and Draper. This position is for our Millcreek location. We believe that children should attend programs where they are gaining from their experiences during the day instead of just being dropped off for 'daycare.' Our daily schedule includes educational programming, music, art, science and the like.
We value our employees as they are the front line of our program! We plan monthly group activities for our teachers such as Park City Retreats, Dinners, trainings to further education, special events, and the like. Our teachers are a true priority for us!
We are currently seeking an amazing Assistant Director/Director in Training who has experience in the preschool/early childhood realm for our Millcreek or Draper Campus. We have amazing staff there and need the glue to hold them together. This position includes maintaining ratios, giving tours to prospective parents, performing fire drills when needed, completing licensing and inventory checklists each month, answering messages on Brightwheel, and occassional stepping in to classrooms to cover staff who are out or assisting in a classroom. This position is overseen by the executive director of The Play Lab who is onsite 2-3 days per week.
The perfect (but not required) individual for this position will:
- Have experience in early childhood/preschool
- Be outgoing/have a social personality
- Have experience in a managerial/supervisor position
- Have experience using Brightwheel
- Have experience with Childcare Licensing Requirements
- Be detail Oriented
Required for this position:
- 21 years old
- Confidently pass a background check
And one of the following:
- A Bachelors degree and at least 60 clock hours of approved Utah Early Childhood Career Ladder courses in child development, social and emotional development, and the child care environment; or 60 clock hours of equivalent training as approved by the department OR
- 12 college credit hours of child development courses OR
- A currently valid national certification such as a Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) issued by the National Child Care Association, a Child Development Associate (CDA) issued by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition, or other equivalent credential as approved by the licensing department OR
- A level 9 from the Utah Early Childhood Career Ladder System OR
- a National Administrator Credential (NAC) and at least 60 clock hours of approved Utah Early Childhood Career Ladder courses in child development, social and emotional development, and the child care environment; or 60 clock hours of equivalent training as approved by the licensing department
