Summary
Principia is looking for an IT Network / Telecom Engineer. In this role, you will manage operations and maintenance of the voice and data network infrastructure, wireless network, telephone system, and inside / outside cable plant on both campuses including technical support, billing, and Switchboard procedures and operations. You will represent the face of IT / Network department to the Principia community and support a respectful and productive team atmosphere.
Your proven administrative, organizational, and communication skills as well as your ability to work under pressure and balance multiple priorities with grace, flexibility, versatility, and patience will be key to your success. Reporting to the Network Director, you will play a critical role in supporting Elsah and St. Louis users including Faculty, Staff, and students. You'll collaborate with the Elsah and St. Louis Network Engineers to support the needs of IT / Network.

Primary Responsibilities
Support / Technical :
- Works with peers to monitor and maintain all aspects of the voice and data network infrastructure including network switches and WAPs, class of service, carrier network circuits, fire alarm and other low voltage infrastructure, etc.
- Works with peers to monitor and maintain all aspects of the core phone system including routing tables, network circuits / trunks, phone system servers, class of service, etc.; manages regular system updates in coordination with vendors.
- Works with peers to respond to and resolve user trouble reports and MAC (Move, Add, Change) requests.
- Properly updates the ticket queue for all issues.
- Works with peers to respond to system alarms immediately and maintains ownership of issues to resolution in a timely fashion.
- Escalates issues to vendor / manufacturer support when necessary.
- Works with peers to maintain the inside and outside cable plants in coordination with vendors.
- Works with peers to provide user community updates in coordination with the Director for outages, scheduled maintenance, and wide-impact changes to policy or system functionality.
