Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, year-round position with an hourly rate of between $25.00 and $30.00, depending on your relevant work experience, fit for the role, and fit to our company culture. The position comes with competitive benefits including :

- Serve as first line of contact for a wide variety of tree care customers
- Schedule site visits for our team of Certified Arborists / Estimators
- Lead the expansion and adoption of our CRM, ArborGold and serve as the point-person for all things related to this software
- Create reports using ArborGold that track incoming client / outgoing calls, close rates, project costs, sales projections, and other reports you have found helpful
- Support our Certified Arborists / Estimators by training them to use ArborGold, then following up with customers who have received estimates from us; emailing and calling to learn when we’ll be moving forward with the project or, if not, why not
- Follow up with clients at the end of every project to obtain testimonials and / or online reviews
- Other sales related projects as your schedule allows
- Friendly, optimistic, and always eager to meet new clients and colleagues
- At least 3 years of recent experience in sales, customer service, or a role that requires constant contact with new people on a daily basis
- The ability to set up and then train a CRM such as Zoho, Salesforce, or Hubspot. Our CRM is ArborGold
- Great communication skills; you’re eloquent and able to write well, hence the cover letter requirement
- Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred though we are open to hearing from folks with an AA degree and fantastic writing skills
- You work at a fairly fast pace, have high attention to detail, and can manage a wide variety of tasks efficiently. Note : this role is best for someone with a great memory! And, yes, there will be a test. : )
- You’re highly organized and can provide examples
- You live within an easy commute of West Berkeley. Our address is 2828 8th Street. (Please go onto Google maps, set the travel time to 6 : 45 a.m. to determine how long your commute will be. The person we hire will live within a 40-minute commute of the office.)

In this position, you’ll serve as the primary point of contact for residential and commercial clients seeking tree care services. Working from our headquarters in West Berkeley and reporting to our S.A. (Strategic Assistant to the CEO), you’ll model a highly personalized, attentive approach to client services, going above and beyond to meet individual needs and create a premium experience for our customers.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is planning a long-term career in white glove client services or sales, and who lives within a 40-minute commute of Berkeley, CA. The role will be worked on-site without a remote / WFH option.
About the Right Fit Candidate
The right person for this role is someone who already considers themselves a Sales or CS professional. She / He / They will be familiar enough with CRMs to learn ours (ArborGold), work with our software firm to make updates, and then handily teach others to use it.
The single most important characteristic we are seeking in our first-ever CSR is a strong work ethic. This encompasses reliability, dedication, being highly responsible, and consistently delivering high quality work even when not directed or supervised. The winning candidate for this position will be someone who is self-motivated, extroverted, works at a faster-than average pace, and naturally has a high attention to details. Our CSR will love connecting with people, and will be available to attend evening networking events, tradeshow, and anything else that reinforces the company’s name recognition within the communities we serve.

Since 1980, The Professional Tree Care Company has been trusted for tree services throughout Northern California. Based in West Berkeley, we service commercial, residential, and public works projects from Mendocino to Monterey, and from San Francisco to Sacramento. We are known for excellent customer service, and the ability to remove enormous trees using large cranes and heavy equipment.
What makes us unique? We recycle material removed from job sites at our own Green Waste Recycle Yard (see GreenWasteRecycleYard dot com), mill logs into dimensional lumber, and create organic mulch from the wood chips. We also have the staff, equipment, resources, and experience to perform tree services at any scale.
