Daybreak Shelter serves individuals who are active in their addiction and are homeless. The primary components are triage, engagement, substance abuse stabilization services, outreach and assessment, referral, educational services, and emergency shelter services. All program components will be delivered with competencies in culture, language, gender, disabilities, sexual orientation, and age.
Upon entry, program staff conducts an admission intake with each individual which includes a safety assessment, triage for medical and mental health referral purposes, comprehensive psychosocial assessment and needs assessment, referral to SUD treatment services, referral to emergency services, referral to housing resources, and referral to specific community-based resources, as appropriate.
Once an individual is engaged, staff works to stabilize the individual by coordinating with local health care resources, assisting with access to mainstream benefits, health insurance, medical care, SUD/COD treatment, and providing ongoing education on addiction, recovery, and overdose prevention. Once clients are stabilized, staff connects them to local employment and housing support resources.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist the Program Director with shelter operations with primary concern for quality program and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, safety and security, facility management, business and community relations, and resource development.
The Assistant Program Director will assist the Shelter Manager to ensure there is adequate staffing at all times to provide support to clients who are in need of crisis prevention and stabilization as well as staff skilled in crisis intervention techniques, including de-escalation. Will also assist the Shelter Manager with contractor needs as they arise.
The Assistant Program Director will conduct weekly quality review audits on client files to ensure complete and accurate documentation. Also, help maintain all policy binders, state regulations, and reporting.
The Assistant Program Director must have experience in motivational interviewing, harm reduction, trauma-informed care, de-escalation techniques, crisis intervention, opioid overdose prevention, and medication assisted treatment.
In the Program Director's absence, the Assistant Program Director will act as Daybreak Shelter's point person, run staff meetings, and report to the CEO.
Weekend and on call are requirements. Must be flexible to work first/second shift hours.
