GENERAL DESCRIPTION (1-3 LINES DESCRIBING ROLE):

The NEDP Site Coordinator is the leader of a team that is responsible for the overall

development, administration, supervision, and execution of the School Age Childcare Program, providing a safe,

enriching, and respectful after school childcare community for school aged students in grades K through 5 at one

of the four elementary schools in Northborough. The qualifications and specifications of this position include

demonstrating a thorough knowledge and execution of the regulations and policies of the Department of Early

Education and Care (EEC).

QUALIFICATIONS:


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Have a minimum of one year experience in teaching and/or administration in the field of before/after school care  or related field
    • Experience in developing children’s program development and enrichment programs.
    • Preferred associate’s degree in any field of study listed: Early childhood, Elementary Education,
    • Psychology, or related field and have nine months’ experience working with school age children
    • Current First Aid and CPR certification within 60 days of hire.
    • An understanding of positive behavioral approaches and Positive Youth Development.
    • Ability to supervise and support a team of approximately ten staff members and additional community partners
    • Administrative and organizational skills
    • Ability to multitask and coordinate daily activities: Ex: Student and staff attendance and operational site program management
    • Good interpersonal skills and communication skills to collaborate with school-day teachers, staff and Administration
    • Facilitate program planning to ensure educational frameworks are embedded into enrichment activities
    • Sensitivity to and/or experience in working with children and adults from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
    • The capacity to work independently and within a team environment. 
    • The ability to maintain professional boundaries. 
    • The ability to empathize with others. 
    • Must be able to pass all background checks (CORI, SORI, DCF, Fingerprinting, etc.)


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (NOT LIMITED TO):

Duties and Functions:

  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and execution of the regulations and policies of the EEC.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas.
  • Be available to work the following times (onsite 2:15 – 6:15pm daily for Zeh and Proctor and 2:45 –
  • 6:15pm daily for Lincoln and Peaslee).
  • Available to work whenever the program is in session: Early Release Days and Vacation weeks.
  • Develop, plan, and implement curriculum during before and after school, school vacation weeks, early

release days with specific attention given to age-appropriate activities and developmental learning.

  • Provide a warm, nurturing environment where all children can grow physically, emotionally, socially,

and intellectually.

  • Write monthly newsletters to include important dates and program information, submit to the Assistant

Director for review.

  • Establish and maintain a safe, healthy environment. Responsible for the general upkeep, cleanliness, and

organization of the program area and related areas, such as gym, classrooms, storage room, etc.

  • Plan and participate in an Open House the day before school begins.
  • In conjunction with the Assistant Director, trains, develop, and provide direction and guidance for group
  • leaders/assistant group leaders as needed.
  • Supervise site staff, document observations, and feedback, and provide written evaluation of their work
  • performance. Create a developmental plan with measurable outcomes for site staff. In conjunction with
  • the Assistant Director, develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Maintain children’s records at site, including attendance, daily activities, and social development.
  • Ensures preparation of child development for annual progress reports and parent conferences.
  • Keep written journal/record for all children.
  • Maintain monthly attendance records and submit Childcare Resources (CCRC) attendance sheets and
  • submit them to the Administrative Office monthly.
  • Maintain high standards of professional ethics and confidentiality.
  • Maintain high standards in all interactions with children, families, and other staff.
  • Review all behavior plans with group leaders to ensure implementation of the plan for those children

who need extra support to participate in the program.

  • Inform parents/guardians AND Executive Director/Assistant Director of any injury and/or incident that

may have occurred with their child on the day it occurred. Immediately write EEC report in file and

document in log or approve written report by team staff. Immediately inform the Executive

  • Director/Assistant Director of any injury/incident that requires written documentation/hospitalization.
  • Supervise all activities in a way that ensures safety.
  • Schedule, document, and facilitate a weekly site meeting with the site staff.
  • Establish a good rapport with families and provide feedback on the child’s experience in the program.
  • Complete annual progress reports on all children.
  • Develop and oversee participant behavioral plans as needed in conjunction with parents/guardians,
  • Assistant Director/Executive Director and, if necessary, school personnel.
  • Pick up mail for the site on a regular basis at the office.
  • Maintain equipment on site and ensure cleanup of facilities used.
  • Conduct monthly fire drills within the school year and document.
  • Attending all staff meetings and training courses on the scheduled day.
  • Professionally collaborate with all school personnel daily.
  • Submit tuition checks left by parents/guardians in the Drop Box as often as possible.
  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, parents, and the community
  • Follow safety procedures and written and verbal instructions
  • Consistent and on-time attendance is required for supervision and instruction of the students
  • Other duties as needed

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Work Environment:  

Work is generally performed in a school/office environment during the school day, however there may be occasions for after school meetings.


Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the site coordinator is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear.  The site coordinator is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel.  The site coordinator is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.  Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building. Must be able to navigate uneven terrain in the form of sand, hills, concrete and woods. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close-up vision, distance, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The job requires high levels of alertness and concentration.
