Position Summary :
Responsible for procurement of goods and services for the company. Gather quotations, examine bids, and place purchase orders. Evaluate supplier reliability; develop new supply sources where supplier performance is below standard. Conduct negotiations and conclude contracts with suppliers that are in the best interest of the company. Monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.
Essential Job Functions
Reviews MRP outputs as needed to ensure all required actions are taken (planned orders, expedites, dexpedites cancels, etc) to support production and development builds.
Generate purchase orders for inventory items
Setup suppliers and items purchasing parameters in DEACOM (ERP System).
Communicate purchase orders via phone, fax or e-mail to the supplier.
Coordinates material deliveries with warehouse and planning to maximize efficiencies
Review the open order status, follow up with suppliers on overdue orders, and maintain the delivery date in DEACOM (ERP System).
Follows up on open purchase orders until materials are delivered and released from incoming QC.
Reconcile payment issues with the supplier and accounts payable department.
General clerical duties to maintain records and files in an organized manner.
Supplier Management
Responsible for creating and implementing a detailed strategy plan for selected commodities and suppliers.
Serve as the primary contact and foster a positive and mutually beneficial relationship with suppliers.
Develop and enhance relationships with strategic suppliers.
Ensure that confidentiality agreements and contracts are established with suppliers.
Identify cost savings initiatives and quality improvement projects.
Coordinate early supplier involvement in new formulations and purchase the required materials to support new raw materials.
Coordinate request for credit applications and negotiate applicable terms and conditions.
Develop and implement procedures and work instructions which will ensure compliance with all regulations
Supplier Quality Assessment and Approval
Evaluate and select suppliers based upon assessment of their capability, quality systems, lead time, and cost.
Participate in supplier evaluations based upon Quality System Requirements.
Performance Measurement
Maintain the following reports;
o Supplier Performance – On Time Delivery
o Supplier – Lead time reduction
o Cost – Purchase Price Variance
o Cost – Reduction to standard cost
o Volume – Amount of Purchase Orders placed
EDUCATION
BS Degree in Business / Operations / Supply Chain or related field
Certification as either CPM or CPIM preferred
EXPERIENCE
1-3 years in materials management within a manufacturing environment
1-3 years in a regulated industry with preference for pharmaceuticals
Previous MRP experience, DEACOM is a plus
REQUIRED SKILLS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized and results driven with strong analytical skills
Previous experience with supplier relations including negotiations for supplier agreements, cost reductions, and generating procedures.
Proficiency with spreadsheet and data management
Able to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
