Responsibilities
- Accurately code patient diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems.
- Process medical claims and ensure timely submission to insurance companies.
- Review and verify patient information and medical records for accuracy before billing.
- Follow up on outstanding claims and manage medical collections as necessary.
- Communicate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies in billing or coding.
- Maintain organized records of all billing transactions and correspondence.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations within the medical office.
Skills
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10).
- Experience with medical billing processes and systems.
- Familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding principles.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare providers.
