What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bartender position at The Reeds at Shelter Haven?
The Bartender is a tipped position and is responsible for handling face-to-face contact with the bar guests. They prepare all alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for guests and the service orders to the restaurant. The bartenders are directly responsible for taking all meal and beverage orders and serving the requested items to bar and lounge guests. They are to maintain a safe and relaxing atmosphere at the bar and lounge areas. They are ultimately responsible for the service and cleaning of their assigned bars and sections.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations that pertaining to safe food handling and serving of alcohol in all its forms (beer, wine, spirits).
- Provide world-class guest service by ensuring all drink and food orders are efficiently served to the guest and checking with the guests that their orders are correct; make any necessary corrections as quickly as possible.
- Handle all food and alcohol in accordance with sanitary procedures and standards. Comply with all applicable laws concerning food handling and storing.
- Maintain safety by never overserving a bar guest.
- Confirm that all bar guests are of legal drinking age.
- Offer friendly and warm greetings to all restaurant and hotel guests.
- Promptly take drink and food orders from their bar guests.
- Correctly enter the guests' orders into the selected point of sale system.
- Correctly prepare all drinks with correct amounts of ingredients and alcohol pours.
- Remove soiled plates, glassware, and silverware from assigned bars and sections.
- Perform daily and weekly cleaning assignments and maintain the work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Ultimately responsible for a fully stocked and clean bar area at the end of their shift regardless of being scheduled with a barback or assistant.
- Must be flexible and willing to work a varied schedule.
- Nights, weekends, and holiday shifts are required.
- Other duties as assigned.
