What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cooler Order Selector position at The Regional Food Bank?
The Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, a member of the Feeding America Network, is offering an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for fighting hunger and food insecurity in our region.
As a Cooler Selector, you will be responsible for filling orders from the Cooler section of the warehouse. Additionally, you will play a key role in supporting all food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation initiatives. To be successful, you will be the driving force for efficient, accurate and timely movement of refrigerated products throughout the receipt, storage, and order selection process. Cooler selectors are also expected to work collaboratively with other Warehouse employees in support of our mission of alleviating hunger together!
Responsibilities include:
Following all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees, volunteers, and visitors.
Efficiently and accurately selecting products to fulfill the orders of member agencies.
Replenishing products in picking locations from reserve stock.
Receiving incoming product deliveries and storing in the appropriate storage locations.
Safely building organized, labeled, and well-structured pallets for product storage, delivery, and pick-up.
Effectively using technology by using handheld scanner to fulfill orders, taking inventory, and accounting for inventory movement.
Reporting inventory discrepancies, and missing pallet inventory tags to management.
Participating in monthly and annual inventory counts.
Monitoring assigned areas for pest activities, and report concerns to the management.
Collaborating with other members of the warehouse and the Food Bank.
Our ideal candidate must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school or equivalency diploma. Preference given to candidate with previous experience operating a forklift. Prior warehouse experience is preferred.
Physical requirements:
Ability to work in extreme temperature conditions in a refrigerated environment with exposure to temperatures as low as 32 degrees.
Ability to frequently lift up to 80 pounds without assistance.
Ability to stand and/or bend, kneel, listen, talk and/or have visual concentration for extended periods of time.
Working at heights such as, but not limited to, the height of a step ladder.
Safely using mechanical equipment including a forklift, electric pallet jack and end-rider pallet jack.
