Position Overview:
Our Infusion Paramedics are responsible for the infusion of patients through IV infusions and IM injections under the supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner. The Infusion Paramedic will play an important role in communicating effectively with patients and staff, while maintaining an organized administrative schedule, in order to support the mission of The Remedy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform IV infusions and IM injections of ketamine under the supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner.
- Conduct assessments of patients to determine their suitability for infusion therapy, including reviewing medical history, current medications, and vital signs.
- Administer prescribed medications and therapies via IV infusion, following established protocols and dosage guidelines.
- Collaborate well with team members including psychiatrist, therapists, Ketamine/TMS team and office staff.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all aspects of infusion therapy, including patient assessments, medication administration, vital signs, and any adverse events.
- Paramedic provides EMR services as needed.
- Monitoring vital signs of TMS Therapy and ketamine therapy patients.
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy regarding all details, especially regarding patient notes.
- Monitor patient for medical symptoms.
- Provide medical intervention in emergency situations.
- Follow established treatment and office procedures.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment with an “all hands-on deck” approach.
- Act courteously and with tact in dealing with patients, visitors and the public.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to maintain proper certification to perform duties.
- Willingness to learn how to use TMS and Ketamine for treatment purposes.
- Exemplifies strong work ethic and operates with highest level of integrity in and outside of the office, displaying a "patient first" mentality.
Education and Experience:
- Valid Paramedic/Registered Nurse Certification/License
- One year of IV starting experience
- Experience in a mental health care environment is preferred but not required
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
