Overview:
As the Facilities Coordinator at The Ripken Experience Pigeon Forge, you’ll support the Facilities Manager in the upkeep and maintenance of our baseball complex. This includes managing synthetic turf playing surfaces, supervising grounds, and maintenance staff, and ensuring that our facilities remain in top condition for all guests and staff. You'll contribute to facility maintenance, staff motivation, and department budget management while fostering positive relationships with external vendors and internal teams.
Responsibilities:
- Regularly groom fields and assist with turf repairs, ensuring safe and high-quality playing surfaces.
- Assist in recruiting grounds and maintenance staff, fostering a motivated and efficient team environment.
- Support the Facilities Manager in planning the department budget, including evaluating costs for staffing, materials, and projects.
- Schedule and oversee work by external contractors, minimizing disruptions to operations.
- Ensure a clean, sanitary facility by adhering to Ripken Baseball standards.
- Learn to operate equipment such as tractors, forklifts, golf carts, and utility vehicles safely.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, weekly tasks, and offseason projects.
- Build and manage relationships with HVAC, landscaping, and electrical vendors, promptly communicating needs.
- Identify and address internal and external customer needs, providing insights to improve facilities and service.
- Promote a positive environment among team members, reflecting Ripken Baseball values.
- Embrace Ripken Baseball standards in decision-making and daily work, taking ownership of your role.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in a related field, such as facilities management, turf management, or grounds maintenance.
- Minimum of 1 year in facility maintenance within a sports complex, stadium, or arena.
- Understanding of basic construction principles to assist with facilities maintenance and improvement projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities for clear interaction with team members, vendors, and customers.
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective leadership qualities to motivate and support team members.
- Positive and professional customer service skills to address needs of internal and external clients.
- Valid Driver’s License for operation of facility vehicles and equipment.
- Basic understanding of general maintenance disciplines, including electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, landscaping, mechanics, and general repairs.
- Ability to perform minor repairs on machinery and equipment.
Working Conditions/Special Physical Requirements:
- Frequently required to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, to support tournament and event operations.
- Must have the physical ability to perform all necessary tasks related to event management.
- Regularly required to lift or move up to 50 pounds, approximately 20% of the time.
- Frequently exposed to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and outdoor elements such as dust and particles.
