JOB SUMMARY
The Road Home seeks a full-time experienced human resource (HR) generalist to oversee both the Training program and the Employee Recognition and Appreciation program. The selected candidate must have a commitment to continuous learning and professional development, and care deeply about employee engagement and retention. The selected candidate should have experience as an HR Generalist or other HR role.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Training
- Oversees new hire orientation and associated training.
- Designs and develops training programs and materials.
- Delivers training sessions through various methods (e.g., in-person, online).
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in employee development and training methodologies.
- Coordinates with outside trainers.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, and make necessary adjustments.
- Conducts training needs assessments to identify skill gaps.
- Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. Works closely with the Grants Management department to ensure all training requirements related to shelter licensing and grants are completed in a timely manner and reporting is easily accessible.
- Schedules and calendars all agency-wide training and sends reminders as needed.
- Supports supervisors with departmental training needs.
- Supports and helps to grow the agency mentorship program
Engagement
- Creates and implements strategies to improve employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
- Regularly conducts surveys and/or focus groups to gauge overall engagement levels. These can include questions about job satisfaction, alignment with company values, and feelings of recognition, as well as brief pulse surveys to quickly assess employee sentiment and identify any immediate concerns.
- Oversees the stay interview process for staff.
- Utilizes KPIs such as turnover rates, and absenteeism, to determine the effectiveness of recognition and appreciation programs.
- Conducts exit interviews to understand why employees are leaving and identify any engagement-related issues
- Develops and manages programs to recognize and reward employee achievements and contributions.
- Tracks participation in employee recognition programs. Oversees the years-of-service award program and budget.
- Leads the employee appreciation committee. Has oversight of the appreciation budget, and regularly communicates with managers about their appreciation efforts and use of appreciation tools and budget.
- Generates the monthly Appreciation Newsletter
- Has oversight of the Employee Resource Guide, and provides regular support for employees who reach out to HR for assistance with resources
- Manages the agency tuition assistance program
- Sends out regular communication to staff about the EAP and other mental health and wellbeing tools.
