The Rockefeller Foundation is seeking a Summer Associate or Intern for our Finance team.

Program Details
- This position is open to undergraduate (rising Seniors) and graduate students.
- A cover letter is required.
- The 2025 summer program will run 11 weeks from June – August 2025.
- This position will be based in New York City with either a hybrid or fully remote schedule. Fully remote interns must be located in the United States.
Pay Range: $25 - $35 hourly rate. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience. This is a non-exempt position and thus eligible for overtime pay.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Data entry, digital filing, and record-keeping for RF, its public charity (RF Catalytic Capital, Inc.), and other related entities.
- Assists with journal entry preparation, accounts payable, and account reconciliations; participates in the monthly closing process.
- Assists with historical data migration between ERP systems.
- Monitors discrepancies in payments and accounting records; investigates variances.
- Monitors and reconciles intercompany balances between entities.
- Assists with annual tax return forms (990PF and 990) filings and supporting schedules.
- Participates in Finance team meetings, capturing key discussions, decisions, and action items.
- Ability to learn and support developing information for financial statements (i.e., statement of activities and statement of financial position) reconciliations.
- Supports Finance team (for RF and RFCC) on day-to-day accounting tasks and ad-hoc projects.
Education, Experience, and Skills
- Currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program in one of the following areas: Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Passion for using financial information as a tool for improved decision-making and working in the nonprofit sector.
- Attention to detail - able to complete tasks with a high level of accuracy.
- High level of organization and ability to manage deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Excel) and Financial ERP Systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
- Collaborative, innovative, eager to learn, and interested in how the Foundation creates and implements strategies working alongside partners.
- Previous work experience in the non-profit/private foundation industry is preferred.
- Must be a proactive self-starter.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
