Organization Overview

The Development Program provides in excess of $50 million in private support annually toward the mission of The Rockefeller University,which is to improve the understanding of life for the benefit of humanity. Working with the Board of Trustees and volunteer groups,including The Rockefeller University Council,the Committee on Trust and Estate Plans,and the Women and Science and Parents and Science Initiatives,the Development Office oversees all private fund-raising at the University,including annual,capital,and endowment campaigns.

Overview

The Development Assistant will provide key staff support for donor relations with university benefactors, including but not limited to members of The Rockefeller University Council (RUC). Reporting to the Director of The Rockefeller University Council, and as part of a three-person team, the Development Assistant will assist in all aspects of the annual giving program and in the coordination of high-profile fundraising events including the annual Celebrating Science Benefit, and other cultivation, recognition, and outreach events. Additionally, the Development Assistant will provide support as needed to the Major Gifts team and frequently collaborate with other groups in the office.

Responsibilities

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Support the front-line fundraising team in managing a portfolio of 120 high-level Council members, including maintaining donor and event records in Blackbaud CRM, handling gift tracking, run and format reports, ensure accuracy of data, and drafting correspondence, among other duties.
  • Provide support for university fundraising events, including the Celebrating Science Benefit, the university’s annual fundraising dinner. Responsibilities include scheduling, processing registrations, preparing meeting materials, taking accurate meeting notes, producing reports, and staffing events.
  • Provide general administrative assistance to the Development Office with such duties as responding to emails, answering phone calls, scheduling meetings, updating calendars, and supporting other activities as needed.
  • Produce and track fundraising appeals to the Council, University Associates, non-volunteer donors, and prospects, as well as special appeals for support of critical research areas and other university initiatives.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Must have excellent organization and communication skills (both verbal and written), professional demeanor, strong attention to detail, and be capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work as a member of a highly collaborative office, be responsive to feedback, and produce time-sensitive materials are essential.
  • Must have the discretion to handle confidential information.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite required.
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • This position requires the selected candidate to work in the office, five days a week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with fundraising software/ Blackbaud CRM, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and basic coding skills preferred; HTML a plus.
  • Previous fundraising and events experience preferred.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

USD $48,000.00/Yr.

Compensation Range: Max

USD $55,000.00/Yr.
