Job Description
Our client is a global supplier of advanced tier 1 automotive products for demanding specialty applications. We are currently assisting them in identifying a Manufacturing/Process Engineer with metal stamping experience.
The Manufacturing/Process Engineer will direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects. Duties will include working with manufacturing personnel regarding part design, quality issues, and safety. Estimating tooling and production costs, tool and die design and maintenance, operator training, continuous improvement, and process/manufacturing cost reductions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods. Implements process improvements in areas of operating efficiency, equipment set up/changeover, capacity, new technology, and equipment layout of the manufacturing and forming operations. Drives ongoing cost reduction efforts.
- Coordinate all production issues related to new product release and changes to existing products with corporate design engineering group.
- Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Optimize manufacturing processes to include standardization of common applications, troubleshooting production problems, networking of systems, and implementing required training programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering with 3-5 years related experience in a Tier One or Tier Two Automotive Manufacturing environment
- Strong Technical Experience with High Tonnage presses (Gib and Hydraulic actuated), Robotics, Stamping press automation equipment, and Conveyor/Roller systems.
- Strong Technical experience with VFD’s and Motion control systems
- Ability to function within cross-functional Teams, utilizing good communication skills and a “hands–on” approach within all projects.
- Understanding of various types of tooling and standards.
- A working knowledge of the Automotive Production Quality Planning (APQP) process and requirements for automotive Part Production Approval Process (PPAP.)
- Knowledge of Lean, Six-Sigma or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) doctrines.
- Understanding of various types of tooling and standards (Metal stamping, thermal forming, steel rule dies, etc…)
