The lymphoedema service and the wider Therapies Service within which it sits, are key members of a multidisciplinary team geared to the rehabilitation of patients undergoing surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy in both in and outpatient settings.

Band 3 Administrator for the Lymphoedema Service, Chelsea, 22.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

Document all messages received clearly and accurately, relaying them to the appropriate lymphoedema therapist as soon as possible.
Process all external referrals to the Lymphoedema service via the central referrals office ensuring that patients have completed all relevant forms prior to their appointment
Prepare and process all new referral, discharge and deceased documentation in line with Trust standards and policies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Input and maintain good quality data, escalating any difficulties to the service / clinical leads for the Lymphoedema service

Circulate all relevant documentation for discussion at team meetings and prepare a summary of team meetings when requested.

Ensure that stationery and office equipment are used efficiently, that equipment is maintained and replaced as necessary and track invoices bringing them to the attention of the appropriate manager.

Support the wider administration and lymphoedema teams by taking on additional administrative responsibilities within scope where required.

Play an active role in the annual appraisal process and participate in any training and personal development as identified via the appraisal process with the clinical / service leads for Lymphoedema Services and the Head of Therapies.

Demonstrate a commitment to the delivery of high-quality care and assist in the diffusing of any informal patient complaints.

Specific Experience and Qualifications

Essential criteria

GSCE 3 grade C’s and above including Mathematics and English

Evidence of previous secretarial experience

Ability to use standard software packages to type the range of documentation required.

Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.

The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
