Senior Mental Health Clinician, Cherry Creek - Custodial FYMHS
Forming part of the Orygen Specialist Program (OSP), a program of The Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Custodial Forensic Youth Mental Health Service (FYMHS) team provides specialist youth mental health care in custodial settings (Parkville and Cherry Creek sites) to young people and their families/carers.
Custodial FYMHS is in an exciting period of significant growth as a result of the Royal Commission and evolution of Victorian Mental Health Services. Our specialist multidisciplinary team provide enhanced mental health services to young people in custody, with a focus on recovery-oriented care.

Your New Role
- The Senior Mental Health Clinician will hold a client case load and complete clinical assessments, formulations and develop/deliver appropriate evidence based mental health treatment and care planning.
- Conduct mental health assessments, formulate treatment plans, and provide psychological treatment, crisis intervention, family support, and systems containment for young people in need of immediate care and their families.
- Deliver clinical care that aligns with OSP's client-focused, accessible, and evidence-based standards, ensuring it is culturally safe, trauma-informed, and responsive to the diverse needs of all young people and families, including those from LGBTQI , Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and multicultural and multifaith diverse populations.
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with key agencies, community groups, and service providers through consultation, liaison, and collaborative projects, including but not limited to AOD services, Youth Justice, and primary care providers.
- The role is embedded within Custodial FYMHS team and is based at the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precinct. When required to travel to other service locations a workplace vehicle and travel time is included within working hours.
- Eligible disciplines: RPN Grade 4 / Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and Psychologist Grade 3
- Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)
- Minimum experience in accordance with EBA requirements for this senior clinical position, preferably including a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the application of clinical practice in the mental health field and specifically with young people experiencing mental health disorders.
- A sound knowledge of the youth justice and/or criminal justice system and other relevant community based forensic services.
