**Schedule for this Position is Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 4:30pm**

**Pay Range is $28 to $35/hour, depending on experience**

Summary/Primary Purpose: This position is responsible for cultivating and managing fundraising efforts for the Quad Cities. They will prospect and cultivate donor relationships, as well as offer a higher level of personal engagement for major gift donors. This position coordinates the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts for donors through strategic communications, mission-driven donor experiences, and personalization. Also responsible to recruit volunteers through corporate partnerships, civic groups, and special events, and coordinate volunteer projects, including training, placement, and recognition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strategic plan for direction and implementation of community relations and volunteer development.
  • Develop a strong donor cultivation plan and partner with the Divisional (DHQ) Development team which includes the Corps Development, Major Gifts, Planned Giving, and Communications teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Manage a portfolio of 75 of the organization's prospects and donors.
  • Cultivate relationships by updating, appreciating, and asking donors to deepen their partnership with The Salvation Army, including solicitation of gifts.
  • In partnership with the DHQ Development team, help identify candidates to serve on the Advisory Board and orientate and educate current and new members.
  • Attend Advisory Board meetings and serve as a liaison for Advisory Board development committee and assist in planning and carrying out strategic community engagement.
  • Establish and meet expectations or personal contacts with potential donors, prospective volunteer resources, media, corporations, foundations, and other potential benefactors of TSA, and provide monthly contact reports, and maintain and record all donor actions into the CRM database weekly.
  • Execute strategy through face-to-face, phone, email, and mail communication.
  • Develop and implement a robust volunteer outreach strategy, including recruitment, training, placement, tracking, and recognition coordination, for special events, Christmas bellringing, EDS, etc.
  • Assume overall responsibility for the creation, planning and implementation of fiscally sound special events (e.g. annual civic dinner, Salvation Army week, Donut Day, Birdies for Charity, Stuff the Bus, Project Bundle Up, Red Kettle Campaign) and other events fostering public awareness, donor cultivation and recognition activities.
  • Coordinate with other team members and volunteers and work within budget to implement touch points and special events, including recognition and appreciation events.
  • Individually and with support staff, present the story, mission and needs of The Salvation Army to community leaders, groups, organizations, and media on various media platforms, including web page and social media.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond with urgency to the needs and requests of others, internally and externally, and ensure a high degree of responsiveness to all donors without regard to giving level.
  • May be required to participate in TSA functions and events that occur outside of normal working hours to include weekends and holidays.
  • This role must travel to Omaha, Nebraska quarterly for meetings.
  • Driving is an essential function of the position.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree preferred or three to five years of non-profit fundraising, relationship building or related work experience in lieu of degree.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

  • Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  • The ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
  • Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to detail and filing.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, co-workers and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to, such actions as: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients; respect of others' property and person; and professional and appropriate communication to and about clients, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Must be willing to support and demonstrate a passion for The Salvation Army's mission coupled with a strong commitment to know and understand the Army's history, mission and structure, as well as its services, policies and procedures.
  • Excellent writing skills, ability to create proposals and marketing material for donors.
  • Highly effective interpersonal, conversational and presentational skills, demonstrating an emotional intelligence and situational awareness.
  • Proficiency with utilizing CRM solutions such as Salesforce.
  • Attention to detail and deadlines, as well as ability to set overall strategy.

Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

Physical requirements include lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally, stand, walk, and climb stairs, as well as the ability to drive to local and divisional events.

Working Conditions: The work environment involves a quiet to moderate noise level of an office setting and indoor or outdoor events.
