The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a temporary summer position for a Sweet Shop Office Assistant at their Camp Mihaska location in Bourbon, Missouri.
Job Summary
This full-time temporary role will start on June 09 and end July 31. The assistant will oversee the daily operations of the Sweet Shop and provide basic office support to the Youth Department.
Responsibilities
- Manage staff activities in the Sweet Shop, including supervision and direction.
- Assist with registration and collecting funds to open Sweet Shop accounts.
- Secure all collected funds in the safe after each free time.
- Manage all Sweet Shop accounts, including inventory and supply management.
- Report needed supply items to the DYCS (Divisional Youth and Candidates Secretary).
- Secure the Sweet Shop after each free time, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
- Report staff and maintenance problems to the DYCS.
- Prepare camper refunds at the end of each camp session.
- Distribute camper refunds to Corps Officers/Leaders at camper check-out.
- Provide basic office support, including typing and distributing information.
- Be present at all meals, meetings, and programs unless otherwise directed.
- Be available to provide spiritual direction to campers as needed.
Requirements
- A strong personal relationship with the Lord and regular church attendance.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in various climates and weather conditions.
- Some office work experience and basic typing skills.
- Able to keep accurate accounting records.
- Lives on campgrounds throughout duration of employment.
- A team player and self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
- Understands and supports the goals and objectives of The Salvation Army Camping program.
Physical and Working Conditions
Capable of participating in camp activities. Frequently lifts 25 pounds, occasionally lifts to 50 pounds and moves 50 or more pounds using dolly/cart/truck. Some work will be outdoors, and it will be hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
