The incumbent may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description.Cashier and Customer Service (80%)Assists customers purchasing items from The Salvation Army by ringing up sales utilizing a cash register.Collects monies, counts change, and prepares receipts for items purchased at the Family Store.Counts change and prepares receipts.Prepares and packages purchased items.Prepares and balances the cash drawer.Runs routine register print outs.Ensures the security and accountability of all cash register funds and sales records in accordance with established Salvation Army policy and procedures.Maintains the cleanliness and security of the cash register area.Ensures that forms, bags, etc. are adequately stocked.Ensures all customers, whether making donations or making purchases, have a pleasant experience.Assist with placing donations in the sorting area.Provides tax receipts as requested.Places and arranges items on the sales floor as directed by the Family Store Manager or Assistant Manager.Checks all store displays to ensure that items are maintained and displayed in a neat and orderly manner.Rotates and/or rearranges stock as directed by the Family Store Manager or Assistant Manager.Return merchandise to proper sales area after handling by store customers.Ensure the cleanliness of all display racks and shelves.Ensure the sweeping and moping of floors.Ensure the cleanliness of all windows and mirrors.Ensures that the store is maintained in a clean and inviting manner.Answer the telephone in a courteous and professional manner as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREDEducation and ExperienceHigh School diploma or G.E.D.Certifications/LicensesNonePhysical RequirementsAbility to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead.Ability to operate telephone.Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.Ability to understand written information.Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.A qualified person with a disability may request a modification or adjustment to the job or work environment in order to meet the physical requirements of the position. There may be occasion when discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like are encountered.
Special activities, including but not limited to, special outreach events and/or special corps programs may require additional work hours.A detailed work schedule will be approved by the corps officer for the Family Store Manager.
The Cashier/Lead Sales Associate will stay on property during his/her work hours unless official duties otherwise require his/her absence.
