Job Description
The Salvation Army USA Southern Territory is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Store Assistant Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced retail environment and lead a team of dedicated staff and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and monitor the day-to-day operations of a small Family Store.
- Serve as the lead worker to volunteers and subordinate Family Store personnel.
- Train and instruct staff and volunteers in the proper methods and procedures of Family Store operations.
- Inspect all work performed by staff and volunteers to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Plan, supervise, and participate in the layout and display of store merchandise.
- Ensure all Family Store stock is routinely rotated and ensures that pricing encourages the desired level of stock turnover.
- Plan, organize, and supervise the preparation of displays for special promotions including seasonal merchandise.
- Notify warehouse personnel of low stock items.
- Supervise and participate in the receiving, sorting, pricing, and distribution of donated items in the warehouse.
- Ensure that items are processed in a timely manner and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Ensure donations are collected in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Assist customers purchasing items from The Salvation Army by ringing up sales utilizing a cash register.
- Prepare and balance the cash drawer and runs routine register print outs.
- Assist the Bookkeeper in routine and unannounced audits of the cash register by ensuring immediate support and availability of the cash register and any supporting documents upon demand.
- Prepare and deliver bank deposits daily as required by Salvation Army policy.
- Ensure the security and accountability of all cash register funds and sales records in accordance with established operating procedures.
- Prepare, process, and maintain various sales records, tax forms, and social service vouchers.
- Prepare routine sales reports as directed.
- Ensure the neatness and security of the cash register area.
