The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Kitchen Assistant for the New Orleans Area Command, New Orleans, LA. Job Summary:Assists in the preparation and serving of meals; cleans kitchen equipment and washes dishes; sweeps, mops, and waxes floors. Saturday and Sunday, Split Shift, 5am to 9am and 4pm to 8pm Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of cleaning practices, methods, and techniques. Ability to assist in the preparation and presentation of meals. Ability to wash dishes and kitchen appliances. Ability to clean kitchen and dining area. Experience and Education: High School diploma or equivalent, and one-year experience working in a kitchen preferred. Licenses and Certifications: None Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Duties are usually performed by frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting.Works is performed in a normal kitchen environment where there may be limited physical discomforts associated with working around hot stoves/ovens or cold freezers.
