In addition to exciting Summer Day and Overnight camp experiences for youth, Camp Allegheny's Conference and Retreat Center welcomes various groups throughout the year for team-building activities, conferences, and celebrations.
The Camp Allegheny Conference and Retreat Center is hiring an Event AV Assistant. This position will provide technical support to groups and events by setting up, operating, and troubleshooting audiovisual equipment. The Event AV Assistant will ensure the seamless execution of AV services to mee the needs of guests and groups.
This position is part-time/casual and will assist with events throughout the calendar year on an as needed basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist groups with their AV requirements, understanding their needs and providing tailored support
- Operate sound board in the main meeting space, theatre lighting board, and other AV equipment as needed
- Set up and assist groups with TV screens, projectors & screens
- Set up AV equipment required for the event
- Assist group throughout their event with their AV needs
- Put equipment away after use
- Move and set up sound equipment to other designated areas, and return equipment to storage after use
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory
- Ensure sound equipment storage areas are tidy and organized
- Assist with set-up and tear down of events in all Camp Allegheny facilities when needed.
- Assist with the cleanliness and upkeep of the Camp Allegheny facilities when required, including guest housing, dining hall, public bathrooms, etc.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report any damages, loss, or updates needed to AV equipment
- Ensure seamless hospitality services, responding promptly to guests’ requests and needs
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure efficient service and a positive guest experience
- Proactively communicate essential information to the Retreat Director, Retreat Director Assistant, and other staff to ensure streamlined services
- Maintain a neat and clean appearance
- Bring all that cannot be solved independently to the attention of the Retreat Director first
- Willingly cooperate with all members of the staff regardless of their position
- Maintain a high level of interaction with guests and staff
- Be a constructive member of the staff, contributing to the health, harmony, and happiness of the Camp Allegheny family
- Be in accord with camp aims and policies, always being loyal to camp
- Communicate with staff and guests in a professional and courteous manner
- Possess visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity
- Ability to communicate and work with groups
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- All three PA Clearances required upon employment and thereafter upon renewal date: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Request for Criminal Record, and Fingerprint based federal criminal history.
- PA Mandated and Permissive Reporting and The Salvation Army’s KeepSAfe training required.
- 1-2 years of experience in audiovisual support or related field
- Basic knowledge of audiovisual equipment and operations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or Certified GED
- One to three years of experience
- Knowledge of Health and Fire Codes a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to bend, stoop, twist, and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
