Summary
As an Assistant Camp Counselor with The Salvation Army, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children at our camps. This position is essential in fostering personal growth and development while promoting the values of community and faith. The Assistant Camp Counselor will be responsible for all facets of the implementation of the Cobham Youth Program Summer Day Camp, primarily the supervision of youth and leadership of activities when requested by their Team Leader.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Helping team leaders to implement planned activities
- Proper supervision of youth while maintaining a safe and structured environment at all times
- Participation with students during all activities
- Provision of medical attention in the event of injury
- Maintain good stewardship practices in care of equipment, facilities and grounds
- Maintain strong Christian witness and example to youth
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
It is required that all employees maintain a high level of professionalism in the workplace, wearing appropriate clothing, maintaining confidentiality of information, completing responsibilities in an efficient manner, being courteous and pleasant in dealing with others, respectful and loyal to supervisor(s) and upholding the Mission of The Salvation Army.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Certification in First Aid and CPR (offered during orientation)
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Passion to help disadvantaged youth
- Good communication skills
- All three PA Clearances required upon employment and thereafter upon renewal date: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Request for Criminal Record, and Fingerprint based federal criminal history.
- PA Mandated and Permissive Reporting and The Salvation Army’s KeepSAfe training required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Previous employment or volunteer experience working with youth and leading activities
- High School Diploma or working towards one
