Job Summary
The position of Processing Center Associate / Driver is a full time position that will be responsible for donation collection and operating the baler and forklift. The person hired for this position after training will be responsible for using the baling machine to bail unsalable clothing, stacking correctly, and loading into a trailer for transporting for sales. The Processing Center Associate will also assist in using the donation box truck and picking up donations and receiving donations from dropped off at the Thrift Store. The person hired for this position will also be responsible for keeping the processing area cleaned up and work with the store manager to get donations taken care of.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Candidates for this position will be responsible for:
- Insure that every customer/donor is greeted with a smile and given proper assistance and thanked for shopping at The Salvation Army Thrift store.
- Insure that donors are assisted with donations and given a donation receipt and thanked for their donations.
- Keep yourself updated on the latest prices.
- Assist in loading clothing bales for transport.
- Trustworthy with donations.
- Be able (with training) to determine what is or what is not a usable second hand item.
- Responsible in the unloading of donated items.
- Responsible for learning and operating the bailing machine.
- Responsible for cleaning, testing, and pricing of electronics.
- Responsible for the quality and cleanliness of items set for display.
- Have nice Classical or Christian instrumental music, music playing in the background. Ear phones are not allowed.
- Report any/every incident to your supervisor in writing.
- Be willing to have your day off changed, as is best for the interest of the Family Store.
- Attend all store employee meetings, including after hour meetings and trainings.
- Responsible for your own time card, by clocking in and out on time.
Qualifications and Skills
Candidates for this position must:
- Have great people skills, and be enthusiastic as a TSA representative.
- Have a positive attitude, and the ability to work with many people with varied personalities, as well as with the store team.
- Have a nice appearance as a TSA representative.
- Must be in good physical health/condition: be able to lift up to 75 lbs. bend, reach, push, pull, on a regular basis.
- Operate Forklift and Baling equipment.
- Must be 21 years or older for insurance purposes.
- Must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license and be able to drive the Thrift Store Truck.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must pass a child/vulnerable adult safety course.
- Must be trustworthy in operating equipment and in handling and processing donated goods.
