Position Overview
The Human Resources Generalist at SEED Maryland will support the HR function across all departments, assisting in the administration of recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, HRIS, employee relations, and compliance with federal and state regulations. This role will provide general administrative support to the HR team and ensure the accurate maintenance of records. This position reports to the HR Manager/Director.
Requirements:Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with new hire orientations and ensure all onboarding documentation, including employment eligibility verification documents and E-Verify, processing background checks, fingerprinting and preparing employee files, are completed in a timely manner.
- Assist with the offboarding process, including conducting exit interviews, processing terminations in compliance with policies and legal requirements, coordinating final paychecks, ensuring the return of company property, deactivating system access, and maintaining accurate records of former employees.
- Coordinate the administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans, ensuring timely enrollments, changes, and terminations, and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain manage employee leaves of absence (e.g., FMLA, short-term disability), ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies.
- Support policy updates and communicate changes to staff as needed.
- Provide assistance with employee training programs and maintain records of employee training and certifications.
- Assist with compliance reporting, including compiling data for EEO-1, ACA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist with recruitment processes, including job posting, candidate tracking, scheduling interviews, background checks, and sending follow-up correspondence.
- Enter and maintain data and employee records in the HRIS, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits, HR policies, and other related concerns.
- Assist in the coordination of performance evaluations and maintain schedules for review processes.
- Coordinate and assist in employee engagement activities, such as recognition programs, team-building events, or wellness initiatives.
- Perform administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, scanning, preparing correspondence, and handling departmental mail.
- Stay informed on current HR trends, best practices, and changes in employment law to ensure compliance and continuous improvement of HR processes.
- Occasionally travel to recruitment events.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field is required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of HR related experience.
- HR experience in an academic environment is preferred.
- Certification in HR is preferred.
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google platforms.
