The Engineering department at Shepherd Chemical implements creative solutions to challenges and improvement opportunities identified within the manufacturing plant. We are seeking an experienced electrical engineer with high voltage experience to join our team to draw, map and spec out our high voltage systems. Another major part of this role includes managing our controls technology for our chemical manufacturing equipment. You will partner with other engineers and maintenance to program, troubleshoot, and set up our PLCs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide design and supervision of installation of electrical power systems, distribution, and control circuits.
- Program PLCs for control and monitoring systems.
- Troubleshoot control systems.
- Oversees the entire control and electrical systems and completes required updates to the system as required.
- Create electrical drawings for installations.
- Develop HMI screens to work with the PLCs.
- Develop/maintain historical data collection system.
- Work with the other engineers to define/develop the control needs on their projects.
- Monitor key processes to improve efficiency and ensure consistency of processes.
- Assis in the development of engineering proposals including scope, budget, and schedule requirements.
- Perform construction support, equipment check-out, start-up support and operational efficiency development.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (preferred) or other engineering discipline is required
- Minimum of two (2) years of electrical/controls operation experience
Required Skills
- Ability to use various software applications essential to technical performance
- Demonstrate written, verbal, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to conceptually define and evaluate all feasible control system routes and the proven judgment to select the best route for implementation.
- Successful leadership and organizational problem solving/conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organizational skills - demonstrated by the ability to manage multiple projects/priorities.
- Experience working in a team-oriented environment.
- Able to work effectively with colleagues and front-line personnel by practicing collaborative problem-solving and honest communication.
Desired Skills
- Working knowledge of RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, IFix, AutoCAD, and Electrical 480V/high voltage systems
- Familiarity and experience in using process improvement methodologies - Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Total Quality Manufacturing, etc.
Work Environment
At times, you will be exposed to cold or hot, dusty and noisy surroundings.
