The Ship Group Behavioral Health & Community Services is building a robust outpatient treatment model for individuals experiencing substance use disorders. Our SAIOP (Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program) and SACOT (Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment) services follow Clinical Coverage Policy 8A and support clients using structured, evidence-based care. We are seeking a Qualified Professional (QP) to provide direct care, facilitate groups, and support the integrity of service delivery in compliance with state and Medicaid standards.
Position Summary
The QP plays a central role in SAIOP and SACOT service delivery. Under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) or Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), the QP facilitates group interventions, supports treatment planning, monitors documentation, and assists with care coordination. This position ensures that services are implemented in alignment with ASAM Level 2.1 (SAIOP) and Level 2.5 (SACOT) standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide face-to-face services and interventions to assigned clients enrolled in SAIOP/SACOT, including skill-building, psychoeducation, and relapse prevention support.
- Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups in accordance with structured daily program schedules.
- Ensure treatment delivery is consistent with individualized Person-Centered Plans (PCPs) and approved evidence-based practices, including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and the Matrix Model.
- Supervise Peer Support Specialists and paraprofessional staff delivering group or recovery services under Medicaid billing requirements.
- Conduct and document regular supervisory visits to monitor staff fidelity, service quality, and compliance.
- Review and verify clinical documentation (e.g., progress notes, PCPs, group logs) for accuracy, timeliness, and Medicaid compliance.
- Support the completion of quarterly progress summaries, service reauthorizations, and annual reassessments in collaboration with the clinical team.
- Assist with client intakes and orientation into SAIOP/SACOT programming.
- Participate in team meetings, treatment planning meetings, and regular supervision with the LCAS or CCS.
- Respond to significant events, incidents, or grievances in accordance with agency policy and Medicaid standards.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external providers to support client recovery and connect them to wraparound services.
Qualifications To meet state requirements under 10A NCAC 27G.0104, you must have one of the following:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a human services field with two (2) years of full-time, post-degree experience working with individuals with substance use disorders (or co-occurring MH/SU diagnoses).
- If holding a degree in an unrelated field, must have four (4) years of qualifying experience.
- Must meet the criteria to be credentialed as a Qualified Professional (QP) as defined by the state of North Carolina.
- Working knowledge of Clinical Coverage Policy 8A, ASAM placement criteria, and Medicaid documentation standards is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain accurate, compliant records.
- Experience in group facilitation, crisis de-escalation, and supporting high-acuity clients.
- Must possess a valid NC driver’s license, reliable transportation, and meet background check requirements.
Work Schedule
- SAIOP (Day Program): Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- SACOT (Evening Program): Monday through Friday, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Occasional Saturday or outreach duties may be required based on programming needs.
Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $20.00 – $22.00
