Title: Residential Nurse (R.N.)
Reports To: Clinical Director

Job Summary
This position plays a vital role in the mission of The Shoulder. The Residential Nurse is responsible for assessing and addressing the medical needs of the clients in the programs at The Shoulder. The Residential Nurse is responsible for coordinating with third parties to ensure that the medical needs of each resident is addressed appropriately. The Residential Nurse will also supervise the Nurse Delegation Program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a degree in nursing from a regionally accredited college or university. * Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) by the Alabama Board of Nursing. * Must have or be able to obtain MAS nurse certification. * Experience in working with the substance abuse population and mental health population is preferred. * Be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
Job Duties
- Completes a nursing assessment on all new clients as a part of their intake process. * Makes appropriate arrangements to have all medical needs addressed for each client. * Coordinates with outside referral sources to ensure clients receive the appropriate medical care. * Completes all documentation in a timely manner and in compliance with standards set by the Alabama Department of Mental Health. * Facilitates the Nurse Delegation Program and ensures all documentation is in compliance with state standards. * Trains and certifies staff for MAC certification. * Supervises all MAC trained workers to ensure they are performing tasks in compliance with their MAC certification. * Completes incident reports on all medication errors and any other incidents related to medical issues. * Manages supplies and ensures that there are adequate supplies to address and manage minor medical needs that do not need an outside referral. * Attend clinical staffing and coordinates with the clinical team. * Provides education on the role of medication and health maintenance and how this affects recovery. * Facilitates educational trainings for staff and clients on medical issues including quarterly HIV education for clients and annual training for staff on infectious disease. * Work together with other employees utilizing a team approach to accomplish the overall mission of The Shoulder. * Any other duties as assigned.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
