We are seeking an experienced and driven Executive Director to lead our organization, oversee operations, and ensure the continued success of our mission.
About The Spay Neuter Project: The Spay Neuter Project is a project of No Kill Columbia MO, Inc. a 501c3 nonprofit animal welfare organization. The Spay Neuter Project is a high quality, high volume, low cost spay and neuter clinic that opened in 2015. We proudly serve pet owners, rescue groups, and community/feral cat caretakers, helping to reduce pet overpopulation and improve animal welfare in our community and beyond.
Position Overview: As the face of The Spay Neuter Project, the Executive Director will provide leadership, manage operations, and oversee the financial health and strategic direction of the organization. This role requires an individual with exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and a strong background in nonprofit leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Operations Management:
- Oversee daily operations of a high-volume spay and neuter clinic.
- Provide strong, supportive leadership to staff, fostering a collaborative and mission-driven workplace culture.
- Develop and implement strategic plans and long-term goals in partnership with the Board of Directors.
- Manage human resources, including hiring, training, performance reviews, and maintaining sound HR practices.
Financial Oversight:
- Prepare and manage the annual budget in alignment with organizational goals.
- Oversee financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, and ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Secure funding through donor relations, grant writing, sponsorships, and special events.
Community Engagement & Public Relations:
- Serve as the organization’s primary spokesperson, representing The Spay Neuter Project in media appearances, public speaking engagements, and community events.
- Build relationships with community members, partners, and donors to promote the organization’s mission.
- Oversee marketing and communications, including social media, newsletters, and promotional materials.
Board Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to set priorities, provide regular updates, and support governance activities.
- Collaborate on fundraising strategies, policy development, and organizational planning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, business administration, public administration).
- 2 years of management experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
- Proven experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Passion for animal welfare and understanding of challenges in addressing pet overpopulation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of high-volume spay/neuter clinic operations and protocols.
- Experience with media relations and public speaking.
Compensation & Work Schedule:
- Competitive salary starting at $60,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
- Four-day work week (Tuesday-Friday) with occasional weekend or evening duties.
