We are looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Sanitation Technician to join our team. The Sanitation Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness and food safety of the food manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing processing and production equipment, and resetting the rooms for changeovers. It will also support general sanitation tasks throughout the facility. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on team player with strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment. This is a full-time position Monday-Friday from 7:30am to 4pm, pay starting at $18/hr.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily and periodic cleaning and sanitation of all processing equipment, including but not limited to grinders, mixers, sifters, fillers, and packaging machines.
  • Conduct thorough sanitation between product changeovers, ensuring compliance with allergen and cross-contamination protocols.
  • Assist with room startup and shutdown tasks
  • Clean and reset production and processing rooms between runs, including floors, walls, equipment, drains, and surfaces.
  • Ensure that cleaning chemicals and sanitizing agents are used properly, following all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate sanitation records, including cleaning logs, chemical usage, and verification checklists.
  • Assist with waste removal and disposal in compliance with sanitation and environmental guidelines.
  • Conduct routine inspections of sanitation practices and report any maintenance or safety concerns to management.
  • Support general facility cleanliness, including warehouse, breakrooms, restrooms, and common areas as needed.
  • Work closely with production, warehouse, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless operations and minimize downtime.
  • Follow and enforce all Spice House general work rules, policies, procedures, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) requirements.
  • Assist with bagging, boxing, and labeling of products for processing and production.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of sanitation experience in a food manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards, GMPs, and sanitation best practices.
  • Ability to work with and properly handle cleaning chemicals and sanitizing agents.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and regularly stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment for sanitation is a plus.
  • HACCP or food safety certification is a plus.
  • Passion for food and flavors a must!

Reports To: Production Manager

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position. Standard workdays are Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4pm. Some overtime, weekend, or evening work may be required depending on production schedules.
