The Spice House is seeking a Senior Warehouse Operations Manager that can work in a fast paced 32,000 sq ft warehouse and distribution center that supports both manufacturing and fulfillment of The Spice House products to multiple sales channels. This person must have the ability to manage and motivate salaried direct reports, hourly fulfillment and warehouse employees. The role is responsible for 1.) Inventory management and accuracy, including complete ownership of traditional warehouse and inventory accountabilities (such as shipping, receiving, cycle counting, and requisition of raw ingredients for our manufacturing team), 2.) overseeing the facility and maintenance team, and 3.) leading order fulfillment for our eCommerce, Wholesale, and Retail Store customers.

A successful candidate for this role will be detail-oriented, humble, experienced in managing warehouse, facility, inventory, and fulfillment operations, and passionate about continuous improvement of people and processes. This role will be working in our manufacturing and WMS platforms, so operations system literacy is a must. The ideal candidate will be able to connect the dots between the floor and the systems, and make recommendations to improve our work flows and process. This individual will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be comfortable providing direct, actionable coaching and feedback, and open to receiving the same. We are a creative, cross-functional, and highly collaborative team, and this position will be looked to as a key leader to support all areas of operations in meeting their goals.

The Senior Warehouse Operations Manager reports to the VP of Operations and is based in Elk Grove Village, IL.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the team and processes that run all daily operations for warehouse, facilities, inventory, and fulfillment of eCommerce, store, and wholesale orders
• Manage all aspects of fulfillment, including order generation, production, packing, shipping, receiving, and managing inventory
• Manage all Distribution Center functions from receiving through outbound shipping
• Plan warehouse resources (staff, space, equipment, etc) to run operations costs efficiently while maintaining high levels of internal & external customer service
• Take pride in our facility maintenance, managing the team that keeps our building and equipment in excellent running condition
• Build a data driven team, focused on achieving operational KPIs
• Work within our systems to input data and inventory movements, when needed. Partner with the Tech team to improve our processes and work flows in our systems so that we can ensure accurate data is collected and floor operations are efficient.
• Own all aspects of the organization of the Fulfillment Center, including creating operational structure and the recruitment and management of staff
• Collaborate with our corporate office, retail locations and production center to devise creative solutions for unique problems in our industry
• Ability to achieve company directed KPIs as they relate to staffing and shipping, performance, including turnaround time (service), productivity, quality, and inventory accuracy
• Work closely with our internal Tech team and US shipping providers (UPS, FedEx, and USPS) to ensure we’re utilizing the best shipping services and rates based on our customer needs
• Ensure all safety and OSHA requirements are met
• Work closely with leadership to insure that inventory control practices are in place and implemented, including regular cycle counts and a year end inventory
• Ensure that all customer routing guides are followed to achieve customer shipping and compliance guidelines

Requirements

• A strong people manager with at least 8 years of work experience and 3-5 years of experience managing both hourly and salaried teams in a manufacturing/fulfillment setting
• Highly organized and adept at communicating with your team and across the organization. 
• Continuous improvement mindset with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and project manage numerous initiatives across teams. 
• Technically proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides, and asset management programs)
• Ability to use and train employees on our fulfillment software
• Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems and how they interface with our front end systems and our outbound shipping platform
• Must have the ability to forecast and manage workloads, including prioritizing orders as needed
• Knowledge of spices preferred, passion for food required

Position: Salaried, exempt

Reports to: VP Operations

Compensation: All-in compensation package ranges from 90-120k based on experience
