SUMMARY: The position of Speech & Language Pathologist (SLP) is to employ intervention strategies and support students throughout their learning cycles. It is also important for the SLP to advise and work with educators and administrators to ensure that the students' communication challenges are addressed holistically, so as not to disrupt their learning. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. •Conducting diagnostic evaluations and assessing students’ communication skills. •Working with school-age children with a range of learning, social-emotional challenges, and disabilities or disorders that adversely affect their educational performance. •Consulting with and informing teachers, administrators, and families about the prevention of and treatment for communication disorders. •Performing classroom-based services as well as facilitating small-group and individual speech sessions. •Identifying students who may be at risk for future communication and swallowing disorders or challenges. •Working collaboratively to contribute to and develop a treatment plan tailored to an individual student’s communication and swallowing challenges. •Developing and implementing Individualized Family Service Plans and Individualized Education Programs. •Documenting and reporting as required by federal, state and local agencies. •Participating in schoolwide curriculum and literacy teams. •Establishing and maintaining positive, productive, working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and supervisors by modeling a commitment to teamwork and professionalism. •Participation in consultation and other team meetings. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: •Master's Degree (M.S. / M.A.) in Communication Disorders •Licensed or License-eligible with RIDOH and RIDE •ASHA CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence) •Ongoing professional development in respective and related fields •Experience working in a school setting is a plus •Experience in Handle with Care is a plus
