Description

Job Summary: As a Food & Beverage Supervisor, you will help ensure the staff provides efficient service of our guests with superior professionalism and courtesy. You will work closely with the Restaurant Manager with training new staff, shift lineups, associate development and implementing customer service standards. You must be able to act as a liaison between wait staff and the kitchen staff to ensure timely and appropriate communications and proper timing for guest orders.  On occasion, you will have to help resolve guest complaints when expressed. 

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Plan, supervise and control various operations, working closely and supporting the food and   beverage manager.  

  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, acknowledge all guests and resolve complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.  

  • Constant effective communication with managers and supervisors regarding any guest or staff issues.  

  • Encourage and motivate staff with a positive attitude.  

  • Operate POS (point of sale) and maintain security of system.  

  • Follow the correct cash up and management of bills and house accounts, incl cash and credit card transactions.  

  • Prepare reports for food and beverage manager.  

  • Manage waiters, barman and runners by ensuring the smooth running of the floor and that duties are carried out in a professional and timeous manner.  

  • Maintain excellent product knowledge.  

  • Prepare weekly staff rosters if need be.  

  • Conduct service briefings. 

  • Ensure all front of house staff adhere to the ‘company code of conduct’ and ‘standard operating procedures’  

  • Monitor staff closely to identify any transgressions throughout service so that these can be addressed immediately 

  • Monitor staff service levels to establish any areas that require attention or further training and provide training where required.  

  • Ensure the correct set up for functions and bookings for the day.  

  • Ongoing menu and beverage training as well as developing regular tests. 

  • Assist the food and beverage manager with HR related matters. 

  • Monitor staff breaks and general time keeping.  

  • Monitor and authorize staff clock in and clock out procedures. 

  •  Ensure discipline is fair and correct steps are taken. 

  • All other duties as assigned  

Qualifications


Education and Experience: 

  • Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests.   

  • Diploma in Hospitality Management or Hotel School qualification will be given preference  

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a luxury hotel & restaurant environment  

  • A strong grasp of operational systems (Micros POS and Opera) and computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point, Outlook 

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

  • Detail-oriented and thorough  

  • Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of guests.   

  • Ability to perform consistent work to the highest of standards.   

  • Ability to interact with guests in a pleasant, friendly way   

  • Able to perform and train in all duties and descriptions of the host, bartender, server assistant, and server positions  

  • Ability to maintain a warm and friendly demeanor  

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written  

  • Ability to multitask  

  • Ability to comply with St. Joe standards  

  • Ability to lead a team efficiently and effectively  

  • Ability to solve problems independently  

  • Extensive knowledge of Food & Beverage Operations  

  • Extensive knowledge of operating POS systems  

  • Extensive knowledge in scheduling employees  

  • Moderate wine knowledge  

  • Ability to stand in as and train all positions within the Food & Beverage department  

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and email  

  • Ability to follow and enforce all Food & Beverage regulations
