Description
Surgical Scheduler/MA schedules patients for surgery, tests, referrals, medical and cardiac clearance, pre-op tests and reviews meds and health history as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Scheduling patients for surgery, completing facility paperwork.
Scheduling patients for diagnostic tests (i.e bone scan, MRI, CT, EMG/NCS, ESI).
Reviewing patients meds and health history to determine pre-admission testing.
Scheduling appropriate medical and cardiac testing.
Scheduling patient for follow-up appointments.
Obtain authorizations as needed.
Rooms patients, obtains vital signs, records past medical history and current medications.
Qualifications

Education/Knowledge/Experience
Prefer one year of prior surgery scheduling experience and in a health care facility setting.
Must be a Certified Medical Assistant
Knowledge in operating a computer and computer software (i.e: Microsoft office, EHR)
Knowledge of surgical procedures and medical terminology.
Skills/Abilities
Typing minimum of 35wpm.
Able to multi task and handle obstacles with outstanding customer service skills required.
Excellent communication skills
Must possess tact and diplomacy.
Able to adapt to new and changing situations/duties to meet patient needs.
Attention to Detail, Quality Focus, Professionalism, Thoroughness, Deadline-Oriented, Prioritization
Ability to work under pressure.
Familiar with Medical Terminology and able to understand it.
Ability to exercise judgment and make decisions.
