The State Group is seeking a Payroll Manager based in Evansville, Indiana. This position reports to the Regional Controller and is responsible for processing several separate payrolls for 800 union and non-union employees, filing multi-union reports, federal taxes, multiple state and local taxes, and managing the payroll coordinators in the department.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- As a Payroll Manager you will develop, execute, and review payroll processes for accurate and timely transactions, including compensation, agreements, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and deductions.
- Reconcile payroll with general ledger and bank statements, generating data and reports.
- Manage updates, employee data changes, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with payroll laws at all levels.
- File payroll-related taxes accurately and on time.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of 200 union remittances and associated union reporting.
- Maintain compliant records and meet audit requirements.
- Manage the development and performance of direct reports.
- Review and implement strong internal controls around all payroll processes.
WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM
- 7 years of payroll experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role.
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with 1,000 employee populations in multiple locations, multi-state and union payrolls, and construction experience are all strongly preferred.
- Advanced Excel and payroll software skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. federal/state payroll and tax legal requirements.
- Data analysis and reporting experience.
