Compensation:
- Salary Range: $53,040.00 - $56,000.00

Position Summary:
Accountant
The Office of Financial Management (OFM) has responsibility for the following functions and is comprised of the following five program areas: Budget, Fiscal Services, State Agency Service Center, State Equipment Lease Purchase program, and Statewide Cost Allocation Plan. OFM serves as the central budgeting office for all Department of Administration Offices and operates a service center that provides accounting and financial management services for State agencies. This position is assigned to the Fiscal Services Team and reports to the Fiscal Manager.
Duties and responsibilities assigned to the accountant include:
- Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, determine appropriate funding, ensure all funding lines balance and, if not, researches and resolves inconsistency.
- Resolve problems with vendors, state agencies, and providers regarding payments, documentation, account numbers, and goods and services. Research unpaid invoices and unredeemed warrants to determine the reason, corrects or collaborates with others to correct the problem.
- Reconcile billing documentation with the completed voucher to ensure appropriateness of invoice and that the documentation is complete and accurate. Authorize payments adhering to regulations, policies and procedures as determined by the governing bodies overseeing the transactions of the State of Kansas. Maintains a filing system as work is completed.
- Advise, train and assist agency staff regarding state requirements and procedures governing the purchase of and payment for goods and services. Confers with the Office of Procurement and Contracts to obtain pricing information and other contract requirements. Confers with contract vendors regarding contract requirements and purchasing information. Confers with Delegated Audit regarding compliance with audit requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of experience in professional accounting/auditing work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
