Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
This RN position services as the ADON for Cowan, Ferguson, and Hagemeister neighborhoods in the Long-Term Care skilled facility with resident care levels ranging from minimal assistance to total care. This position provides oversight and supervises staff providing resident care and related assignments and tasks. Responsibilities include coordinating all aspects of resident care as a member of the interdisciplinary team. This position will provide oversight of the wound care program and will be encouraged to obtain specialized training or certification in wound care. Supervision of accurate and timely nursing assessments have a direct impact on the delivery of care and compliance of State and Federal regulations. This role requires planning, organizing, analyzing, and assessing the direct care of each resident as well as evaluating the competency of the healthcare workers providing the care. MDS assessments and monitoring of Quality Metrics may required limited oversight as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Supervise the LTC Nursing Department
- Assist DON in coordination of nursing services; Identify needs and assist to fulfill needs
- Ensure proper compliance of programs
- Coordinate presentation of orientation connect and completion of competencies for nursing staff
- Track training, competencies, and education
- Provide follow-up and support after Orientation
- Provide supervision over admissions; work with IDT to ensure continuity of care
- Conduct on-site visits as determined by pre-admission team
- Review individualized, person-centered care, incident report forms, and electronic health record to provide Quality Assurance monitoring
- Collaborate with DON and other team members to develop quality improvement plans
- Perform special assignments as delegated by Medical Director, DON, Clinical Director, or Superintendent
- On-call as required
- Serves on committees as assigned.
- An essential function of this position is regular and predictable attendance.

Qualifications

Licensing & Certification:
- Eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Kansas

Minimum Qualifications:
- One (1) year of experience in registered nursing.
- Be free from conviction of a criminal offense that prevents employment with the Kansas Veterans Home.

Preferred Qualifications: (Candidates may be screened based on qualifications)
- One (1) year of experience supervising subordinate staff members.
- One (1) year of experience working in a Medicare-certified Long Term Care facility
- One (1) year of experience with the MDS 3.0 process
- Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- A positive work history in the medical field.

- Must take and pass a drug screening within 24 hours of being offered the position.
