Compensation: $43,950.40 Annually (PLUS a 10% pay differential for resident supervision and a $ .30 per hour building trade pay differential)

Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary: This position is responsible for the plumbing installation, maintenance, repair and operation of the physical plant and grounds of the Ellsworth Correctional Facility.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Assigns and directs the work of skilled craft workers such as electricians, carpenters, plumbers, etc., in the installation, maintenance, repair and operations functions of steam, water, sewer, walls, floorings, ceilings, duct work and guttering; construction of shower and toilet buildings, shop buildings, concrete and wood structures; painting of buildings and maintenance of grounds; may supervise the grounds maintenance operations of an agency.
- Designs practical on-the-job training for less experienced workers; develops cross-training experiences for workers to develop more versatile workforce.
- Assists supervisor in planning of project work, estimates materials and supplies needed for projects. Accepts or rejects materials and supplies received. Maintains awareness of current literature concerning material, equipment, and technique as they apply to work performed and supervised.
- Maintains control measures over worker safety practices and care of equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Supervises and trains inmates, clients, and residents in the performance of skilled craft level work
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Qualifications: Five years of experience in the mechanical or building trades. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of the standard practices in the building trades, plumbing carpentry, electrical; masonry; painting; welding; sheet metal; refrigeration and air conditioning, and mechanical trades. Knowledge of safety measures and occupational hazards of the trades; knowledge of regulations concerning hiring. Ability to read interpret and work from sketches, blueprints and specifications. Ability to keep careful and thorough records. Ability to plan, organize, assign and approve or otherwise supervise the work of skilled craft workers. Ability to express oneself clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Skill in the use and operation of tools, machines, and equipment commonly used in construction and repair work at the skilled craft level. Skill in evaluating, analyzing and resolving construction and mechanical problems.
- Necessary Special Qualifications, Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Journey/advanced level experience in building trades and Freon licensing.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Must pass a background test and drug screen.
