Compensation:
- Annual Salary/Hourly Rate: $65,000 - $85,000

Position Summary:
The Network Specialist works in the Office of Information Technology Services (OITS) in the Network and Telecommunication Services for the State of Kansas.
The Network Specialist is part of the group that is responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and administration of equipment that comprises the KANWIN Network (including voice, data, wireless and video). Responsibilities will also include Tier 2 support of the KANWIN Network as well as involvement in the staging and deployment of any new or replacement equipment to be installed on the KANWIN Network.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Three or more years’ experience supporting an enterprise network environment, specializing in Cisco equipment
- Experience in Monitoring, Troubleshooting, Problem Resolution, and Documentation in both LAN and WAN environments
- Experience in using packet capture tools to interpret the data and troubleshoot issues
- Experience in troubleshooting OSPF, or other dynamic routing protocols
- Experience in working with remote customers to resolve issue they may be experiencing
- Experience in working with professionals in areas outside of networking (Security, Application Support, Server Administration)
- Solid verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Participation in an on-call rotation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting a Cisco Voice over IP environment
- Experience with BGP an MPLS in a service provider environment
- Experience supporting a Cisco Wireless environment
- Experience with SDN
- Ability to handle multiple projects and manage time accordingly
Necessary Special Requirements: Ability to obtain and retain an OITS Security and KCJIS clearances are requirement of employment and continued employment.
