Job Description
Basic Purpose
This position will supervise and participate in course and grounds maintenance and specialized lawn and tree care.
Typical Functions
- Manage and maintain golf course property, which may include the course, maintenance equipment, clubhouse grounds, and landscaping.
- Communicate regularly with other members of park management to discuss activities, goals, and plans.
- Inspect the golf course and related areas, which may involve playing golf as a course inspection round to evaluate how well standards are being achieved and make note of any needed adjustments to current maintenance programs.
- Plan all maintenance and project work, applying agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve the agreed upon standards, and long-range goals.
- Diagnose and treat plant and grass diseases; eradicate insects and pests.
- Interview, hire, train, schedule and supervise a team of employees for the purpose of maintaining the property including ensuring proper staffing and equipment are available to complete tasks.
- Work within department budget to purchase necessary supplies to maintain the golf course and related areas.
- Maintain supply and equipment inventory.
- Keep complete and accurate records on items like payroll, inventory, weather data, and maintenance procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have 5 years' experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, golf course maintenance, or specialized lawn care; OR an Associate's Degree in horticulture, landscaping or related area; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must posses an Oklahoma Chemical Applicators License.
- Ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
- Ability to give clear instruction both verbally and in writing.
- Experience supervising a team
- Knowledge of turf grass maintenance, lawn care and gardening operations, the use of related equipment and tools, greenhouse and nursery operation, plant disease identification and treatment methods, and of planting and gardening costs.
