The Program Operations Manager for the Office of Research, Innovation and Economic Development (ORIED) is responsible for the day-to-day oversight, administration, and coordination of key initiatives of ORIED in support of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Economic Development. This position interacts daily with key stakeholders across government, education, and private industry, and oversees complex project management in a fast-paced environment.

The Program Operations Manager for the Office of Research, Innovation and Economic Development (ORIED) is responsible for the day-to-day oversight, administration, and coordination of key initiatives of ORIED in support of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Economic Development. This position interacts daily with key stakeholders across government, education, and private industry, and oversees complex project management in a fast-paced environment.
Duties Include
- Management of complex scheduling initiatives for internal and stakeholder engagement, including long-term planning, with the ability to use significant discretion in execution.
- Utilize project management principles and skills to ensure delivery of key strategic initiatives and programs on behalf of the Senior Vice Chancellor.
- Work collaboratively with all functional areas within SUNY System Administration (including the Chancellor's Executive Team), SUNY's 64 campuses, the SUNY Research Foundation, and all related entities to ensure timely completion of key priorities.
- Coordinate the management of office and program logistics for events attended by or sponsored by ORIED leadership, including all necessary travel arrangements and budgetary reconciliation.
- Assist in the research of key issues, including legislative priorities, and in developing briefing materials[IJ2] for review by senior leadership in support of strategic initiatives and the Senior Vice Chancellor.
- Oversight of office operational processes; proactively developing, monitoring, and improving operations processes and workflow.
- Collaborate with the SUNY Board of Trustees office to help organize appropriate committee meetings including coordinating meeting agenda, minutes, slides, and other pre-meeting materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
The Successful Candidate Will Possess
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Public Policy, or related.
- At least three years of demonstrated success working with a high degree of independence in a complex, multi-faceted organization.
- Considerable knowledge of project management platforms and processes, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to use independent judgement and maintain confidentiality.
- A demonstrated commitment to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
- Masters degree in above and/or PMP certification.
- Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $73,000 - $90,000.
- Work may require flexible hours, evenings, and weekends in order to support the operational needs of the office.
