The Staff Accountant will support accounting operations within our construction projects, focusing on accurate financial reporting, compliance, and cost control. This role requires a detail-oriented professional experienced in construction accounting, including Work-in-Progress (WIP) analysis, monthly profit reconciliations, and comprehensive AR management.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting records and transactions.
- Analyze financial data and identify trends, variances, and discrepancies.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and procedures.
- Recommend and implement improvements to accounting systems and processes.
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy in cost allocations and project expense reporting.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of financial statements and account analysis.
- Conduct monthly profit reconciliations, including WIP analysis, to validate revenue and profit margins, ensuring reasonableness of reported figures.
- Ad Hoc cost analysis.
- Collaborate with project managers to monitor project budgets, evaluate job costing, and identify areas for cost improvement.
- Process Accounts Receivable (AR) for construction projects, tracking outstanding balances, and coordinating collections to ensure timely payments from clients.
- Other duties as assigned.
