Starting Wage:
$21.05 $1.00 Shift Differential

Summary: Fabricates and maintains molds and tooling used in the manufacture of plastic components for the toy and consumer products industry by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Inspects interior surfaces of molds for the following: Leaking parting lines, cracks, scratches, gouges and imperfections.
- Repairs any defects found by welding, grinding and hand finishing. Remating of parting lines may be required.
- Inspects tooling (spidering) for cracks, rotting steel, and missing and fastening components.
- Repairs defects found in tooling by welding and replacing steel where needed. If repair work is too extensive, new tooling will be fabricated after consensus by supervisor.
- Fabricates spidering for new products using drawings provided by the supervisor. This includes: cutting new cavities to proper heights and installing threaded screw inserts in each leg (standoff) cavities, building new spidering by cutting, fitting and welding steel, mounting and shimming cavities and fabricating and installing fastening components.
- Installing pneumatic cylinders to cavities and running air supply lines to cylinders.
- Verifies dimensions of completed tooling for conformance to specifications.
- Works overtime as required.

Education and/or Experience:
Min. six months to 1 year related experience. College or technical school training a plus
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to read measuring instruments such as calipers.
- Good math, mechanical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to operate machinery such as a lathe, milling machine, drill press and saw.
- Must be able to weld, MIG and TIG.
- Must be able to successfully operate a tow motor.
Other Qualifications:
Tools required: Basic set of open end and box wrenches, basic set of 3/8 drive ratchet and sockets, set of screwdrivers, 5lb. sledge hammer, set of chisels, right angle die grinder, straight die grinder, welding helmet, needle nose pliers, pocket calculator, flashlight, ½” drive impact gun, 15/16” impact socket, basic set of allen wrenches, 10” adjustable wrench, 6” calipers, 6” level, and 16’ tape measure. The employee must furnish these tools.
