There’s a difference between managing supply chains and actually making an impact in one. If you’re the kind of person who enjoys untangling complex supply puzzles, making things run smoother, and isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo, keep reading.
We’re looking for a Senior Manager of Supply Planning. If you’re good at making supply chains tick like a Swiss watch while balancing cost, quality, and service, this might just be your next move.
What’s the gig?
You’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining the master supply plan for a fast-moving business. That means juggling capacities, constraints, and making sure inventory levels don’t go haywire while keeping customers happy. You’ll be working across multiple teams – Sales, Demand Planning, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and Procurement – to keep everything running smoothly.
What you’ll actually do:
- Develop near- and long-term supply plans for manufacturing facilities and distribution sites.
- Balance inventory levels like a pro – keeping a close eye on inventory dollars, turns, obsolescence, and customer service.
- Use planning tools to create a rough-cut capacity plan and establish master supply plans.
- Perform root cause analysis when supply and inventory go out of whack.
- Work directly with plant scheduling functions to keep production and inventory levels in check.
- Identify and flag supply constraints before they become real problems.
- Develop alternative production and distribution strategies to prevent supply headaches.
- Own planning data and ensure it’s accurate – because garbage data leads to garbage results.
- Lead or participate in product lifecycle management – ensuring smooth transitions when launching or discontinuing products.
- Monitor, track, and report key performance metrics like inventory values, schedule adherence, obsolescence, and customer service levels.
- Drive continuous improvement in supply planning processes.
What you’ll need:
- Experience as a Supply Planning Manager or a Senior Supply Planner ready to step up.
- B.S. in Business, Ops Management, or Supply Chain OR 5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong working knowledge of JDE or similar capacity modelling systems.
- A sharp analytical mind with great organizational skills.
- The ability to juggle multiple priorities without breaking a sweat.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills – because supply planning doesn’t happen in a vacuum.
- A detail-oriented, self-starting mindset.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and get teams rowing in the same direction.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel wizards welcome).
- Willingness to travel to production facilities as needed (up to 20%).
Bonus points if you have:
- Food industry experience.
- Experience using JDE.
- Familiarity with Tableau or similar data analysis tools.
