What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant Paralegal position at The Stogsdill Law Firm?
Well established Wheaton family law firm seeks to build a strong support staff of reliable, experienced and professional paralegal / legal secretaries. Ideal candidate(s) will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, possess a willingness to be a team player while maintaining motivation to work independently and have strong knowledge of MS Office products. Duties include :
Prepare legal documents such as orders, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, deposition notices, petitions and motions, under the guidance of an attorney.
Communicate with clients and other attorneys via email and telephone in a professional manner
Assist clients with completion of financial disclosure statements and discovery requests
Draft professional client correspondence
Work closely with attorneys to prepare for trial by preparing exhibits, memorandums, and trial books
Possess the knowledge and ability to e-file
Assist with general office tasks answering office calls, taking new client calls including obtaining preliminary information for potential new cases
Organizing physical and electronic case files
Accurately calendar court dates, meetings, phone calls, depositions, etc.
Knowledge of billing software and dictation is a plus.
Ideal candidates for this position will have a paralegal certificate and / or 5 years of experience, preferably in family law; have a history of strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
